In light of recent steering discussions, would like to share something that happened today.

after breakfast in TTDI, I got into my car and tried to pull out of the parking spot. i turned the steering wheel but the wheels did not turn. the second attempt was more successful and i was able to pull out of the spot. except that now, my wheels were straight but steering wheel was turned 90 degrees.

thought to myself, "shit, this is not good". I knew of a few workshops in the area that are open on Sundays and proceeded to the nearest one. when I reached and while trying to explain the situation to the mech by turning the wheel, it went a full 780 degrees with no movement at the wheels.

scary stuff, was lucky this didn't happen on the way there.

I suspect it has something to do with the connection between the steering wheel and the column as it felt very light when I turned it. don't think its the rack as there were no noises previously and it wasn't leaking. all in all it was quiet strange as there were not signs of failure running up to the moment.

anyway, I'll see what the verdict is tomorrow. (unfortunately I was in a rush and didn't peer into the bonnet to see if the u-joint was moving)

I'll keep you all informed. in the meantime, if you have any suspicions of steering failure, please go get it checked out. not something to take lightly.

Thanks for sharing bro. It was indeed, something that I'm curious to know too. Too bad that you didn't have the chance to pop-up the trunk and see what went wrong.

turns out it was the gears in the steering wheel that were stripped. which means that I will need to get a new wheel.

anyone with a good tech 1 or tech 2 (pref small diameter) to let go?

need it pretty urgently ; )

no man.....mt1. I looked at this afternoon and the "gigi" on the steering side sudah hancur. good thing the connecting shaft attached to the car is still ok.
