BMW E30 M20 323 L-Jet
Hi all, most of you know that what happened to me
during my JB Trip. Yes, my car broke down and this i want to share how and what actually happened.
Travelling at 180kmph and all of sudden you engine SHUT OFF.
tried downshift to kick start the engine but still cannot.
Brake does not work (only minimal) since the engine was OFF
(brake pump failure). What i did is put on hazard lights, down shift and hand brake to pull off to road shoulder.
When car stops, tried to start the engine, cranking but not running.
Oh shit, suspected timing belt snaps BUT little sense in me, if cranking
should be lighter not heavy as normal. open up the engine oil cap and
start the engine, cam is spinning. Fuhh.. NOT TIMING BELT.
Check fuel pump OK.
Check starter module OK
Suspected NO current (takde letrik masuk spark plugs)
Check coil OK
Check Spark plugs NOT OK
mmmmm... might be rotor arm, changed rotor arm... still NOT OK.
mmmmm... check distributor wire. Cannot check since this distributor wire
only can be check with volt meter. (I DONT HAVE VOLT METER)
Call mech... the mech came and i told him all has been check and its
seems okay. The culprit might be my Distributor rotor.
Then the mech show me how to check.
Dissemble your Distributor cap and try start with the ignition.
WALLLAAA... THE ROTOR IS NOT SPINNING. The rotor is jammed.
Have to send fix on which the nearest place will be in Batu Pahat.
NOW ALL FIXED and run again as normal.
THANKS TO IRMAN FOR R&D CHECKING WITH HIS CAR SINCE
HIS CAR ALSO L-JET.
To motronic user, not to worry about distributor because you takde.
Thanks hope this topic helps you in the future.
