Hi guys, as you know, im still using stock E30 seats which are worn out and faded. Im not interested in rewrapping it since its standard seats and have looked into aftermarket seats such as Recaro, Brides, Sparco. The problem is the seats are too expensive brand new, while brands such as SSCUS are alot cheaper, and it is almost the same price as 2nd hand aftermarket seats.
My dilemma is, should i invest in a pair of brand new SSCUS+custom SSCUS universal railing + installation= RM1500
OR
2nd hand Recaros RM1800( not including railings). Custom railing should be around RM300-RM500 plus installation = roughly RM2300 ish
*i am not interested in Mtech seats as they are not "race" enough and i cant afford Vaders
opinions and feedback appreciated
Thx you for your time

Bro, since u r looking for a 'diff' kind of seats, go fer Brand NEW SSCUS. I personally felt that most of them looks good. Not sure how comfy but I think fer that price, it's worth it. I like the one u've posted. RM1.5k eh?

bro....
my 2 cents ya...no offense...
a 2nd hand recaro is way better than the fake sscus....
seating is very important, pampers ur body during long drives and most important, protects the shape of ur back....
firstly, we know that recaro is a seating giant, even the mtec seats are recaro....
therefore, for bmw to even consider them, this proves that their products are safe and have gone through thorough testing before we get it.
SSCUS stands for SOON SENG CUSHION. made in pahang famous for their imitation recaros/sparcos etc. any R & D done? we dunno...
looks are not all that to be taken into account, touch wood in an accident, will ur sscus still look that good or would any part just dislodge itself and hurt u ?
i m not saying recaro might not dislodge, (ps : i m not saying it cos i m using it, but rather safety is the upmost concern) but at least we know they tend to hold their shape due to the many evidence in hard core driving styles ie rally, f1, etc.
its just my humble opinion, in the end its ur decision bro.
cheers

bro tombstone, i talked to you before regarding the seats. To be honest, i was really eager to buy the seats, but after hearing your advice, i backed off a little and ponder on your advice deeply.
I know that Recaros are the shit, but looking at the price tag, not everyone can afford it. Let alone 2nd hand. Sigh, i guess you need to pay to play!!
Anyways, thank you for all the inputs. Might consider again and decide properly
Anyways, im having finals until next Fri, enjoy yourselves! I'll definitely organise a TT for next week!
Chris

im not really sure how much u can get it... cause last time i checked, it was rm550 including railing for wira + trade in with ori seats, 600-650 without trade in. thats if im not mistaken... over all i dont think it would cost more than a grand. yup the shop is located opposite batu caves.

Chris
here's my solution to ur problem bro...
get one recaro first..... its no shame in having one only till u can get the 2nd one...
trust me, when i was studying my dua kaki is my best friend. then slowly "upgrade" to iswara. then when start workin then only can afford to buy GTi. you can be considered lucky to have already a conti in ur hand.
anyway my point is everybody's gotta start somewhere...
when i bought my first recaro many years ago, it was a SR3 black. i wanted to get the higher ranges, but could not afford so had to settle for the cheapest semi reclinable bucket. and to make matters worse, i could only afford one piece. so that's what i did. i bought a brand new one at thousand plus. but i alwiz wanted one pair to complete. so slowly saved up and got myself the other.
if u want some help, i can follow u to get ur seats. i have some contacts.
cheers,
PS : no worries about the TT, furthermore we got grand TT on saturday.

firstly congrats on ur mtec bro!
you are right bro, what u pay for is what u get...
however not withstanding the fact, its important to live within one's budget. so what ever suits the individual budget, taste and choice.
we are not dictating anything to anyone just a matter of brotherly advice as we were once upon that very same path.
