so i was surfing the world wide web thinking of ways to make my car go faster. All of a sudden, something caught my eye while seaching. "Decarbonizer", what the hell is that. once clicked, i read numerous of compliments about the product, such as "Wah, unbelievable!!", "Damn, my engine feels like new!".

To those people who dont know what is a decarbonizer. It is a product where some sort of liquid is delivered to the engine via vacuum inlet and it "cleans" away the carbon that sits ur engine, to be short, OVA-Haul~

To be honest, i'm really skeptical of all these products and trying not to trust all this jargon.

So one day while chatting with my buddy about it, he's also another joker who doesnt believe all this shit. "If the thing really works, no need mechanic lo". I too nooded my head and agreed.

Curousity killed the cat, or should i say killed the fatty. Since i havent done any overhaul before to my car, and the enormous positive responses from buyers. At the end, I gave in and bought 2 bottles as my car clocked over 200k KMs.

After some "racun-ing", my buddIES gave in, all in total, we bought 6 bottles of it. 2 bottles each. 4 bottles for 2 E30s, 2 bottles for Nissan Datto

Unfortunately, i dont have pictures of my car or my friend's Datsun, but i do have photos of the other E30. Enough of my rantings, here are the pics you unpatient readers.

Me and my buddy was shocked to see the amount smoke that came out from his exhaust. Oh well, what do u expect from a 1987 engine

After the process, me and my friend experienced lighter throttle response, the car pulls stronger and we definitely felt the difference!

My friend's 1973 Nissan Datto using a carburetor engine also was decarboed the same night, he felt difference as well!

Conclusion, we are currently very very happy of the product and would definitely BUY it again and soon im getting it for my family's vehicles.

things got lighter


noticed a big diff in engine pull specially in the mid range rpm.
other than that the engine is idling bit smoother .

looking forward to doing it again after few more month

Well chriseunos, i am happy for you!

I heard about this but feel a bit skeptical about de-carbonize thingy, i have check with most mech and they said its okay to try but some will lost engine combustion and make your engine shorter lifespan.

Lets talk about theory, overhaul is total cleaning process and oh yes, this de-carbonizer cant compare with the proper overhaul. But just bear in mind that old engine have tiny micro scratch between the parts and mechanism like piston heads, ring and cylinder block. These built up carbon reacts to fill in the scratch in a way to create a little sealant to make the piston sit in place. Imagine, you removed the carbon.... it might build a new scratch and hopefully is not.

I'll bet after this you might addicted to this de-carbonizer and you will purchase again and again to make your engine performs to your liking but in actual facts, we wouldn't know what actually happen inside the engine. This is my personal opinion and maybe i am wrong.

highwaystar, yes i heard the pistons sealing before. oh well, was too excited. if engine got problem...m60b40!!!

i think its a good thing nonetheless.
of coz its never considered as an 'overhaul' .
nothing beats the psysical process of opening up the engine n replacing the old parts with new ones.

but in my case , its a 20 over year old engine .. so im not exactly preserving a ferrari v10 engine or a new engine.
mind you , my engine sounds n shakes like its gonna fall off most of the time



its not a miracle product, just something that can help in a small way to a cleaner engine thats already a very tired engine to start with.

try this, the decarboniser works in a cleaning solvent kinda thing.therefore you should try and pour some inside yuor exhaust pipe and see what happens,even without the high temperature pemankin(accelerator), it actually removes the carbon.so there, some cleaning does actually happen!
