Hey Sifus I am in a dark and lost my moods and all started from Hari Raya.

I was in Malaka visiting all of a sudden I started my car it crank but refuse to work but works after a few minutes and I travel as normal but still happen at times till 2 days back.

It all started few months back my alternator carput and call my mechanic change my battery and do up my alternator which I feel still good and now my son is using it...since then I had problems die off while driving and the Battery lights lite up at times but they check and say the charging was ok but battery was fine but the problem moves on to starting at times just crank by fail to work and I am giving up now. I need advice from all here who happen to xpreance this, now I had new plugs set and most of my electrical in my engine are new say about few years change new, why even my mechanic can't trace. If it works it will run normal only at times it fails.. even fuel pump are new it must be electrical. had check the fuel injector wire connection clean it it works at times and my mechanic says thats the problem and I don't know as it still fails me. Kindly give some advice especially Seremban Kakis and if possible we meet up to have a look for me for those who knows my HP nos. calling Bart.

Okay my experience (M20 B23 L Jet)

Engine crank got but cannot run.

Distributor Coil (bentuk macam botol air)
if its too hot, wrap with damp cloth and wait for few minutes if its start then replace with the new ones

Distributor Cap (Clean the Rotor Arm)
The rotor arm will get dirty with dust and small particles of debris on the contact point, symptoms like jerking or engine no crank or no electric supply to the plugs. open the distributor cap, clean it or scratch it with sand paper or coin, then place it back and try to ignite the engine again.

Rotor Arm Kaput (while driving, the engine jerking and then died)
Some rotor arm comes with tiny spring to keep the tension of the contact point and some dont. Get a spare, cost around RM30 from dismantler.

Fuel Pump Relay
Crank yes, but the engine no run. Faulty on fuel pump relay, mine replace with the new ones cost RM75.00 if chop shop cost around RM30.00 or maybe you can get it free (if you're lucky)

After all the checking, it is confirmed it is my fuel pump relay which cost me RM75.00

Thats it.

Anyone got the same problem with rezzy? please share.

Cheers!

Highwaystar I have clean the distr. and check the fuel relay (clean and fix another spare) seems still refuse to start. My mechanic was busy could'nt come to my house so looks like I have to wait till Monday as he is busy moving house or try to get someone knows our car, as many refuse to attend to Bimmers they say susah takut. I don't understand as to me its a simple car only now I can'nt catch whats going on. Sad look at my standard engine.

Engine are clean when it gets dirty and I clean with soap & water aja so when I touch make sure my fingers are not dirty. Normally I don't allow workshop guys to touch them without my instruction.
What cover & containers are you refering to? you mean the power stearing filter?

Every day ptg rains and my car still not done anything.

14th Dec my Mech. came and check my car and nothing can be trace but he suspected my timing belt gone, so I ask him to tow my car to his w/shop, after checking no compression one reads 100 and other 3 reads 40 to 30 so suspected hidrolic lifters or piston rings koyak so strip my engine.
After stripping found out 1 lifter jamp and ring are good, are that is the cause of starting problem which I had for the last month?, anyway I have to do top overhaul but was told by a friend who plays Bimmers that the starting problem was cause by the pulley sensor as m40 engine a normal sickness. Should'nt complain to much I had my car for the last 8 years now. So I have to get all the parts & change again my timing belt, bearings termostat, other then that is ok and hope the car runs well after this.

Today 19th Dec all my car parts are fixed then tried to start still no sign of firing. Check one after the other from coil, sparkplugs all seems not firing, then check my alarm system wiring, computer, still can'nt find any trouble then ask the staff to change the relay or what ever at the firewall the one at the side of petrol relay (white) in colour still no sign and off I cabut frustrated, Then I received a call saying that they found a wire damage under the fuse box at the engine bay (yet for me to see) I was wondering what wire burn or what tomorrow morning. he call the wireman to do it, I have told them use a proper wire connecter if any wire change no such thing as cut and joint wrap over like what many wireman did. Hope that is the problem at least I know what the actual problem but koyak probably 2K barang alone 1500plus. I did a top overhaul. I will update again after i get my car. If that is true I my pulley sensor means still good as it cost 250 now. Spare lah.

At last I am satisfied and happy driving again today 20th Dec.
All was cause by an ageing car, there is a wire right underneath the fuse box located at the back of the glove compartment suppost to be the main wire that carry the electrical to the other supply of the engine such as coil, sparkplugs and others was burn or eaten slowly (lucky not on fire) as I had problems since Raya of and on I had starting problem lastly landed at home totally dead, was lucky not on fire. The wireman says of ageing it was heated main supply of current. he did the changing but I did not see but instructed to use proper connecter if any wires cut and join for safety.

After all done it fires and I had done my top overhaul gone $2400 all in all. I am happy got the root of the problem and thanks to all of you who in one way or another guided me in a way, so now my sensor pullay is still good and I have to keep as spare as was not that problem anyway. Very Happy

Call lah if you are around aRRrgghh why not.

Here come back with my car problem after running a few days start the starting problem again but still at home not elsewhere but I can start by cranking the starter and lastly totally can't start. Got the doctor again he clean up and check all conection it works again till today but I am still not happy and worry with it as I can smell like wire burnt smell when I stop and they say its the gasket glue smell but I am not happy and worry everyday, dare not drive out of Seremban and done over 500kms, now my next move is changing my whole fuse box including all the wiring loems as of the burn wires are under the box and melted the bottom and 1 off my relay also melt so I will not risk my car and wanted to change the box and see how it goes as its the heart of electricity supply. One of our members got one in KL from a chop shop at RM250 with all the wires together, hope it will works well as I see even when I on my small lights with the fog lights it is slow action not as before so I think something to do with the connection at the box. this is a lesson we learn from an ageing car bit by bit.

Back here after so long I was away and now its for everbody to learn thru what I have gone thru.

Now my car had been done and tested after I change my fusebox which really is the main problem where the bottom was eatten slowly and my guess was right, the burn smell was from there and a leason to my mech. its one in a million so I told him open one by one the joint conector to the box and replace it, wireman scared to do it so he did it himself I left my car to him and off to Jakarta for a week and ask him to use the car day and night and was okay. after all done my lights are britter and all function better, now I drive with confident day and night and my longest drive last week Wednesday to Friday I drove to Kuala Kedah for Langkawi back at night all the way reach Seremban at 1.45am consider daring juga I and I am happy with it. So wiring is hell to check millions of tinny wires in it, after driving all other cars back to my e30 is the best even I drove a C200 I still enjoy my e30 the best lah. I wii try to upload the picture of my fusebox soon as haven't taken pictures yet its still in my booth.
