As-salam to all residents of malatbimmer...

my name is Fuad Razlan residing in KL..as an intro, i was referred to this site by a forummer in superbikemalaysia.com as an answer to my question on which BMW model model is worth the tears and sweat..hehehe...

i am actually planning to get a 3series model but stuck on my contemplation on whether to get an e30 or e36...in terms of the shape, id say e36 speaks my heart but, i have got to look at it from other different perspectives id say.. like the value for money, reliability (mechanical and electronic issue), soundproofing, performance and longevity...well i had flip thru few sites in the net..however, overseas sites describe the machines in that particular weather..that differs from what we have here in malaysia...

adding to this, i use to own a W123 merc 200 model..the car was absolutely gorgeous and a head turner..but due to Malaysia's climate, the dash board went wrecking...definitely becuz it was an imported model and bcuz of d heat, it suffered..

so, i really hope that the Malatbimmer community can help me decide on this please..i am sure that conflicts like this comes in all the time...and i do believe that you're well aware of the behavior of em two monsters..hehehehe...

im so glad that Malaysia has got a forum and an active community like Malatbimmer makin owning a BMW more fun and enjoyable experience...

Salam Fuad to malatbimmer community, thank you for a 'short' brief introduction LOL, anyway if i were you, get E36, well E30 is one of the breakthrough model and in fact it was highly popular till today, this because the it won lots of racing event back then, E36 tak menang pun:), anyway technology overcomes the problem and who going for racing everyday right? hehehhe

As for dash problem, even UK also same the same thing however E36 was made to last (i think bmw started to notice that).

Theres a lot of choice of good condition E36 out there, mudah.my has E36 coupe for only 20G... slow slow cari...

bro hiwaystar, can i know whats the reasonable price range for E36, 323 or 325? how about the normal wear and tear problems...gearbox?shafts?or engine normal problems?

kalau barang make up-make up ni murah ke? hehehehehe..by looking at mudah, its not bad..hehe..takla mahal sangat...hehehe

It depends on how you use or abuse it:) 325 is a good choice and if can get single vanos and manual (quite rare). Roadtax 2.3 and 2.5 tak banyak different, wear and tear problem is a same thing to most car, use ori parts, lubricants then your car will be tip-top condition.

parts E36 used, new, aftermarket masih banyak and the price is affordable too, so this not a big problem anymore right?

Tangan gatal punya kes tak masuk.... lowered springs, low profile tyres, bigger rims, bbk .. these wear and tear pun sendiri mau tahu. bak kata nabil 'lu pikir lah sendiri'

Welcome Fuad. Glad to have you on-board =). Since you like the E36, I think u'll enjoy owning it and also doing it up to ur liking - including mods.

However, if you really want a model that gives u tears & sweat .. go for E30! yay hehe

.....less ppl getting e30... means more parts for us.... hahahahahaahah...

sorry la fuad... e30 or e36.. both are great cars... the choice is yours... hehe..
