Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum and was hoping you guys might share your experience with me.

Drive a E30 318 converted from M40 to M42 318is from a E36. The car is using the standard absorbers (before conversion), coupled with EIBACH springs.

I seem to be having some problems with the setup, everytime layan corner the tyres seems to be damaging my arch. Now need to be a bit cautios, but that takes the fun out of driving the car.

From you experiences, is it because the original absorbers when with the M40 engine not suitable now because the M42 is much more heavier, if yes what type of absorbers recomended for the M42

Shahrul

I did not change the rims and tryes from before, still using the ori 16" AC rims that i have.... setiap kali layan corners je sure nampak satu lekuk kat arch.... gila frust especially after a new paint job

I think last time I saw, Hot Bits spring was something like RM700.
That was a year or two back though.

i'm on eibach springs & Blistein abs... ok for daily driving.... a bit of the soft side for track/hardcore driving....

.....coz i'm driving an old lady..slowly slowly... so the setup suits my liking....heheheheh....

btw.. just a friendly reminder.. there are 2 types of abs.... 4 potters & 6 potters... the later will not do the trick for your m42....

whats the difference between 4 and 6 potters, or the right questions is what's a potter?

Just slang for referring to how many cylinders.

6 cylinder engines are quite abit heavier than the 4pot ones, so the spring rates are different to accomodate the extra weight.

yang penting layan corner tak cecah body
