its common bro but better double check la...let it idle for some time see whether got any asap come out from ur bonnet hehehehe.... last time i rolled in my 2.0 without the dasboard...only steering and one mtechII seat muahahaha....rollin' for couple of months without any probs:)...kereta agung maaa...banglo in the inside, setinggan on the outside hehehehhe

one simple way to check ur alternator:
start the engine & turn on your headlights (to provide a load)...attach a voltmeter to the battery terminals and rev the engine...the voltage should be about 13.5 volts, and should rise & fall as you rev and slow the engine. if so, then the alternator is putting out the proper volts....the higher, the better, as long as the reading doesn’t exceed 14.75 volts....that can overcharge your battery.

Do NOT disconnect the battery with the engine running!
A] you'll fry the electrics and
B] the battery needs to be in circuit for the alternator to work at all.
but this is for newer cars la...but for old cars like us we can sure try dat...a cheap method to test the alternator kekekekkekekkeke

hi schwa, please do not panic wei...you panic gua lagi panic hehehe..

okay, what is your main problem actually? speedometer ker atau battery?.

1st do not trust your battery light kat meter. that is only guide. if your foreman stated your alternator and battery okay then should be okay. Your car memang buleh start kan? then let it be. UNLESS, you got current leak and your car sometimes cannot start, this will occurred if the battery won't charge accordingly . to exam your current leak, shut engine off, disconnect your earthing (- negative) and use bulb or test pen (as a bridge or whatever the terms is). alarm system as part of the leak, disconnect alarm before you do testing.

if the bulb/test pen light up the current is leak. get wireman to check the culprit.

OKAY back to topic, the problem is your meter. judging from your meter, that is one bad condition meter kinda old oso. you can however do some postmortem, open your meter and examine the connection/terminal. most of meter that i open, some karat already and some got burnt. if condition teruk.. just replace a better one.

jeembo: already try that method. if the battery light nyala before i start, disconnect the battery the engine still running.

but if the battery light at the meter tak nyala engine mati if i disconnect the battery. so what could be the problem?
