[b]boost....is a very strong and addictive poison......u'll sure be back for more.......just take the highest spec.....you'll have no regrets........may the FORCE of induction be with you.....

ok lets start. by now all of you should know the basics. Why convert ? who knows what state the halfcut for a m20b25 could be in ? Dont forget these things are 20 yr old halfcuts. Unless you plan on rebuilding the engine dont waste money. Bolting on a SC gives you ample low down torque plus the sets here have an on/off button so you don't need to have the SC spooling all the time. But beware the effects of having bolt on forced induction equipment on a high compression engine. Prolonged high boost can be detrimental plus wear and tear is high. Do not forget the m40 is an engine that wears out fast. Cams wear themselves out after 200,000 km or so. The m43 was a redesigned engine which does not suffer these problems. Oh and head/profile/valve gaskets tend to go easily on a m40 itself. These problems cannot be evaded as they are inherent in this engine. Plus the fact that a timing belt is used is cause for concern too. Heat already damages the belt super fast but forced induction would wear it out faster.

But all this PALES in comparison to having a SC/TC bolted on. you would be smoking the hell out of Chris Eunos's 325 anytime anyday. I drove an E36 m40 auto with a mosselman turbo bolted on boosting at abt 0.38 bars of boost. It felt like i was driving a bloody 328 !!! and there was no lag due to the low boost.

Ok now Turbo Sang in Sungai Buloh (just past the tol after One Utama) does a exact replica kit of the DA kit using a Levin Supercharger (recond). Price of stage one is RM3800. Send in the car in the morning and collect in the evening. Stage two kit consists of additional bigger injectors and stage three has a intercooler i think and some extras. all in all stage three (complete package) costs RM 5k. Should give you close to 200 hp on an m40. PLus it has a switch for turning the charger on/off for fuel savings when not racing.

Hail to pravind......that first stage from turbo sang sounds reasonable from a person who is well known for his work....might want to pay him a visit later since the price almost similar with my mechanic quote..plus he is a sifu for turbology which means less headache...could you gimme the contact number of turbo sang or at least the exact location with the shop name?

oooooooooo jummy

1. Electric fan - use the one from an e36 as it is plug and play(some wiring required though) to replace your fan clutch to reduce the mechanical load on your engine. Cost: RM 250 for the electric fan from chop shop and RM 150 for the wiring.

hi bro pravindastar...

for the electric fan conversion,... i've seen most of the direct cabling which means the fan running all the time.

can give some tips for the auto wirings? termo switch should be placed at the radiator or engine block or head / before or after thermostat?

..........

supercharging has limitations ..turbo has higher threshold of poweroutput .
ur 3-4k budget to supercharge/turbo is quite difficult to work with .

given the right tuning , ur turbo-ed m40 can be quite lethal .

but to each his own . Smile
