bro wlvrn, okay lets think outside the box

you want sufficient power for overtaking but not racing eh? if you want overtake a car which was 1km away you need to race first then overtake hehehe... pravindastar running on M40 1.8 E36. I can say, his car is unbelievable. He always run with us (2.3 and 2.5). Why? because we dont have enough balls to run over KMH180 (during cruising).

WHAT I SUGGEST
Take to the workshop and ask mech diagnose also tune you 1.8 to max. ie: adjust throttle body, upgrade fuel injectors and also fuel pump. This can skip your brake upgrading. Once you done... you will feel satisfied, look for ah foo Optimum Kayu Ara. Cost to do this might be around 500+-


IF NOT SATISFY
Okay, SC or TC you need more than 5k. furthermore you must do in a correct way, you need to find compatible intercooler block, SC or TC manifold and most important piggyback ie: SMT6, Greddy etc.
The piggyback also cost around 2k. Conversion?

OR you can convert your entire engine to M42 or M44 1.8 also which halfcut cost around 5K, installation lets make it 2k

What upgrade can be done to fuel injectors and fuel pump for M40?
For throttle body, I assume as long as your valve opens max when u floor your gas pedal, it's good already right?

BTW, I think pravindastar's one is M43, not M40. Smile

Not really larr bro......

when u supercharge / turbocharge an engine you effectively gain 60 - 100 additional horses taking in mind the right tuning.

An m20b25 is only a 170hp engine.....if even you get 60 additional hp on an m40 you in total get 115hp plus 60 hp making it 175hp. You would thrash the living daylights out of an m20b25 because the 6 cylinder weights a bloody ton and the m40 combined with a SC/TC still would weight nothing....balance still maintained close to 50/50 unlike the front heavy 6 cylinder cars.

And with a SC you get no lag as power comes in as early as 1500 rpm making it behave like a bigger cc NA....

you are saying dont? it will over stress the old engine? i've seen E34 doing this supercharging and so far no problem...but it's just a light setting...main objective is to make easy for me to overtaking during normal drive. not for racing bro....i will be looking at the levin 1.6cc supercharger or if i could find the 1.8cc version it will be better...but i still need some advice....only 50/50 for doing it

true bolting on any form of forced induction would put stress on an older engine. will explain in detail shortly......

cannot believe you guys are trying to convince someone to change to a m20b25....!!!!! on a 36 somemore....

actually a 1.8 to 2.5 conversion is not allowed tecnically but on a bmw jpj allow it most times....i know lots of guys doing this some even 2.8.....some people declare and some don't and just continue paying 1.8 roadtax.....

as for a m20....please enlighten me on the last time someone actually saw a perfect m20b25 which could idle correctly.....it takes far too much time effort and money to get one to be close to perfect....its old technology brothers....!
