#16: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: evilnickwong, Location: TTDI, KLPosted: Thu Mar 12, 2009 1:01 pm ---- Item no. 3 was never on my drive shaft in the first place lol.
But I'm sure this noise only started recently.
I know my guibo (rubber flex coupling, no. 2) has a few tiny cracks though. Will need to check it throughly.
#17: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: jeembo, Location: Car_JunkPosted: Sat Mar 14, 2009 6:39 am ---- i oso have the same exact problem but no time to look at it:) i have changed all the suspected parts last year but still klok..klok around the clock hehehe...sometimes it feels that the car is going to "patah dua" hehehehe...
#18: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: evilnickwong, Location: TTDI, KLPosted: Sat Mar 14, 2009 5:58 pm ---- Really? what parts did you change jeembo?
#19: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: boy_mtech, Location: SelangorPosted: Fri Mar 20, 2009 8:09 pm ---- i think normally the klok klok sounds coming from that item no 3.coz mine also like that
#20: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: evilnickwong, Location: TTDI, KLPosted: Tue Mar 31, 2009 4:16 pm ---- Just an update. The sound now getting abit worse, but still no idea what is wrong.
Perhaps I might just change the rubber coupling + center support bearing eventually and see. Sigh.
#21: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: highwaystar, Location: Kola LompuerPosted: Wed Apr 01, 2009 2:25 am ---- mmm thanks for the update nick... i wish can help you more.
somehow i also blurr lorr.... okay keep us update on the progress.
thanks again
#22: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: -berq-, Posted: Thu Apr 02, 2009 1:17 pm ---- nick, my car have the same prob as urs...the klok2 sound..
been there more than a year already. i've changed item num 2 from 1st diagram, item 1 from 2nd diagram, and even all the joints on the driveshaft..so far, the sound is still there.
But in my case, the sound came 1st, then the vibrations, then it worsens until now. My only option is to change to a newer driveshaft or recon this one but im not sure which shop can do a 'proper' recon (went to a few and so far they've failed to rectify this problem).
#23: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: evilnickwong, Location: TTDI, KLPosted: Thu Apr 02, 2009 4:09 pm ---- Hey berq, long time no see
Wah, I hope that doesn't mean my sound will eventually become a vibration, that one lagi cannot tahan. -_-
One thing I notice now is that it's more obvious when I haven't driven my car for a day or two. But if those times I drive everyday, then its less.
My longshaft was a used unit from chop shop too when I did manual conversion, if can find a new one, I also wanna know more haha.
#24: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: -berq-, Posted: Thu Apr 02, 2009 4:47 pm ---- haha, yeah long time man!
i think the best solution is to find another longshaft rather than spend a lot & still have the same prob cos so far i have spent 1k++ to rectify this prob. and none of it was worth it.
but the biggest prob is to find a manual longshaft..hehe,
#25: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: evilnickwong, Location: TTDI, KLPosted: Fri Apr 03, 2009 2:27 am ---- OK, so I guess if my rubber coupling and center support bearing look OK, then better to not bother changing right.
The only other clue I've found is that at the part where the 2 parts of the longshaft meets, there are alignment arrows that must line up to each other, otherwise the shaft will be out of balance. (Apparently, this means we cannot simply match 2 ends together since the shaft is balanced from the factory as a single piece).
*turns radio louder to drown out noise*
#26: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: -berq-, Posted: Fri Apr 03, 2009 6:26 am ---- aha yes, forgot about the white arrow pulak..hehe
yeap the arrow must meet & if the arrow hilang oredi then f**ked up le..hehe
if we want to find another longshaft must be the ori front & rear & cannot be mismatched..sigh wat a problem to have
the problem is rite now most of the chopshops i've been that has longshaft in stock, has been disassembled & dunno if they put it the same way that it shud be (2 arrows pointing to each other).
#27: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: -berq-, Posted: Fri Apr 03, 2009 6:32 am ---- so, whats the verdict then nick?
i was thinking of going to jeembo's garage to ask for his opinion on this matter.
#28: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: evilnickwong, Location: TTDI, KLPosted: Fri Apr 03, 2009 7:10 am ---- If my noise doesn't get worse, then I will leave it be for now I guess. But the next time my car is on a lift, I will ask my mech to check those arrows.
Cannot afford to gamble on used long shafts if not a serious issue lol.
Let me know if you find out anything at jeembo's place haha.
#29: Re: Noise at low speeds, forward gears Author: evilnickwong, Location: TTDI, KLPosted: Tue Aug 04, 2009 5:17 am ---- Just to update on this issue.
My car recently made an even worse noise, a very loud klunk-klunk-klunk and can even feel as though the driveshaft is hitting the center tunnel under the chassis. So went to diagnose and as expected, found the center bearing rubber mount was torn.
Replaced center bearing, RM95, nylon bush RM25, rubber coupling RM95.
Happily, the noise I reported earlier in this thread is also gone.
