Lately, its been raining non-stop here in lumut and also in kl.

need to upgrade my brakes to better bigger stronger brakes. any suggestion on which brake should i take to mod ? and also a change of hub to 5 lug. thinking of skyline brembo.

forget 5 lug and skyline brembo, to install 4 / 6 pot disc caliper you will need to choose the right rim measurements for your ride. You also might use spacer to fit the caliper. 5 lug conversion doesn't bring any difference... only wide range of rim for you to choose.

In the end money spend and yet the satisfactory is minimum. Fender must be rolled in and such... ONLY IF YOU HAVE LOTS OF MONEY.. then go ahead.

Okay, for your braking problems, please mod your brakes system. Just get E38 brake servo (ask chris to confirm) and install steel braided brake hose to avoid brake fade and heat build up while maintain your existing caliper. Change your brake disc to groove disc or cross drill disc. This to make the disc cool faster and reacts effectively when brakes BUT beware your disc pad may wear faster like 3-5 months (depending how you brake lorr). And if you lucky can find ABS in chopshop and install ABS System on your ride.

e38 brake servo and steel braided brake hose + pad + install + chop shop abs = $$$$??? below 1.5 or above...

and also that day chris did told me to do a front mod steering rack using e34 ? is it worth it >

As for the price.. i have no idea. Infact to get E38 Brake servo pun susah...

im using E32 servo, E38 if not mistaken, also can. If want to use E32 servo, u need to modify the piping in order to fit it on the car. original E30 have 3 pipings, E32 have 2 pipings. Its a small job. Just make sure that the servo your're getting is double layered one.

To be honest, the advantages of 5 lugs is that there's a variety of rims to choose from. If you're planning to use E36 struts, u can use their brek system as well. My friend who is running 1jz using the E36 breks as well. If you really want stopping power, i suggest getting 4 pot. I feel that E32 servo on a stock e30 is sufficient, but on turbo cars, need to reconsider.

The steering rack that i've changed to is E36, not E34. The advantages of E36 over E30 is that the age of the steering rack. As E36 cars are newer than E30. The turning ratio is the same. You have to modify the piping and the coupling, OR, add some washers to the base of the E36 steering rack to mount it higher as it is a sitting lower than E30 one, therefore no need to change coupling. If you're lucky and have lots of money, try source for a Z3 rack as it have shorter ratio for quicker turning!! XD

Change the brek disc to cross drilled ones and use stainless steel braided lines for the breks as the ss brake lines eliminate the "sponginess" of the brek and also reduce pedal travel.

If you dont have rear disc conversion, i suggest you to change to E30 one. If you are aiming for 5 lugs, try source for Z3 trailing arm as it is plug and play for E30.

Lastly, get good tyres such as Falken 912 that im using. It is cheap and grippy. Money well spent!

regarding the price list, this is what i know la..depending on chop shops

E32 servo--> RM250-RM400
E36 steering rack--> RM600-RM750
SS brake lines--> RM330 (new)
Rear Disc conversion E30--> RM500-RM800
Rear Disc conversion From Z3--> around RM1.5k-RM3k
cross drilled disc front and back--> around RM1.5k (new)

eh chris hammertime, i tot the ratio fer E36 steering rack is powderful from the E30? that's y people upgrade lo =)

Agreed, the above mods is sufficient fer the mighty E30. Unless u r doing hyper speed on a freeway, then u need a parachute =)

if you are using non M3 E36 rack, the ratio is the same as E30. If you are using racks from M3 E36 1992-1998 E36 3.2, u'll have 3.2 turn to lock ratio. if E36 1995 M3 3.0, u'll get 3.0 turn to lock ratio. If you are lucky and got Z3 steering rack, the ratio is the shortest, 2.7 turn to lock ratio.

The advantage like i said before is that E36 racks are newer then E30. Therefore i chose E36 ones. The choice is urs, if u can get a VERY good condition E30 rack. Its the same.

am using front and back disc.

currently need to change the steering rack and brake servo i think. 1 by 1 problem..... coming up. maybe iam cursed or sumthing. lol.

Chris, a bit of correction... the e30 M40/m40 turns 4.0 lock to lock, the e36 standard turns 3.5 lock to lock.. also the steering response of the e36 rack is much sharper on clock 2 hours.. hence faster turn in time..

btw, how much is the e32 servo? i have a friend enquiring it as well. Thx you
