a-boo,bro my e30 is doing 300+ km on RM60...or roughly equates to full tank lasting me a whole week.

when was the last time you got your fuel filter changed?and when was your last service?
actually got so many reasons why the fuel consumption is high...
sometimes the weirdest reasons such as sticking brakes,or it could be your injectors are clogged...like i said so many reasons la bro.

Check this, guess its not true. Auto is more less compare with manual.

i already try lor.

RM60 Equal around 30 Liter fuel town driving

E30 Ljetronic Manual 323i M20 = Can go 1995KM- 215KM
E34 Motronic Auto 525i M20 = Can go 245KM - 275KM

Strange... but true. Why? its engine management and of course heavy foot again.

brah...does the axle ratio play a part in consumption too?mine is 4.10

i didnt know e30s have such a high comsumption of oil... ive changed everything in my car already ( engine parts - fuel filter etc...) my injectors are still good... Smile my foot is heavy during weekends... cause its a weekend car... hehehe...

i didn't call its high consumption... i called it BMW. On which, it consumes like other vehicle oso. Kembara, Iswara Auto, Avanza all these are high consumption why? because for Iswara 1.5 Auto consumes higher than my E30 323i Auto. Just imagine the 2.3 and 1.5 sum more its 6 cylinder.

I can say when i converted to manual, it consume higher. I blame it on my feet heheheehhe...

To be safe, try to get as fast under 10 Liter per 100km (see your fuel consumption gauge) then it will safe more.

Cheerio!

weight of the car also play an important role...not to mention driver..im 90kg myself!! XD...a reason for my heavy foot!

If your using LSD ratio such as 4.10 . The acceleration will be very fast. But if you are cruising at certain speed say 100km/h, the rpm will be much higher than using LSD 3.73.

Regarding the injectors, m20 is using a "single hole" injectors which to me its not efficient while the m50 injectors have 4 holes on each injectors which gives a finer spray hence better combustion. Gives the car a smoother ride. I heard this from other sifu but yet to try it out.

wah...mine full tank about rm75 always got 420km,if yellow light kaw2 can get until 440km..seriously
btw,im using lsd 3.15..hehe

420km? thats damn good man... but normal drive right? i dont quite understand when u guys talk about lsd ratio n stuffs... whats the difference 3.15, 4.10, 3.73? how to check lsd ratio? or this stuffs mod? please explain sifus... Smile

#19: Re: fuel ... Author: chriseunos PostPosted: Wed May 28, 2008 4:49 pm

the higher the ratio. lets say 4.10, good for acceleration...bad for highway driving.

3.15 like berq, acceleration not that fast, but very good for highway, lower rpm. Im talking if ur using the same engine. m20 vs m20..

not s52 vs m20... XD

In order to indentify ur ratio, crawl underneath ur car or jack up ur car and look at the differential. There is a tag on the differential which usually covered by dirt. Clean it and have a look. The ratio will be engraved on a metal plate

IF your car comes with LSD, it will state as S 3.73 (S state for LSD)

If your car doesnt come with LSD, it will state as 3.73

Hope this helps. I stand corrected as Im still learning Very Happy
Feel free to correct me Wink

yep,true dat chris..

e30(m20)
i usually drive on highway 120-130kmh, normal roads 80-100kmh
lsd 3.15: 420km
lsd 3.25: abt 370km(until yellow)

e30(s52)
i drive bout the same speed as the e30
lsd 3.25: 340-350km with rm75 fuel

#22: Re: fuel ... Author: jackyhong PostPosted: Thu May 29, 2008 2:31 am

base on all the feedback, is it true that lsd have better fc than normal diff?
eg. berg e30 (m20) lsd 3.15: 420km = rm0.18/km @ rm75
*thats consider very good!!!!
*some more lsd easy to drift!!!!

#23: Re: fuel ... Author: tyk3Location: Damansara Heights & Jalan Dutamas PostPosted: Thu May 29, 2008 2:54 am

dun forget our fc all depends on if its city driving or highway driving or a mix of both...

city driving,if stop and go traffic sure la makan more fuel...if highway thn less gearchanging and hence a slightly better fc...

thts wht i c whn i drive anyway

#24: Re: fuel ... Author: jackyhong PostPosted: Thu May 29, 2008 3:17 am

but for me, i feel no different between city or highway driving...
if city stop, traffic jam, fc is high
if highway, want to test power/ avoid people to cucuk, fc also high
hmmm....

So when i drove down to malacca average speed of 140-160 sometimes i do my top speed. I still end up only using 12-16L of fuel. Ok i know im not drving an E30. I think thats pretty good.

LSD has nothing to do with fuel comsumption. The ratio of the LSD will.

aiya!!!!!!!!!!...my diff 4.45 tambah the 4 pintle m50b28 injector....and kaki besi....i dont really want to know my consumption...maybe just as bad as the rest...some more no highway in kuching..

Chris

chriseunos....you weigh 90kg???
i weigh 105kg leh...so i guess i'm like a weight penalty to my car?haha...
i'm using 4.10 and like u said, pick up damn syiok but top end like Lan like that...also 100km/h my rpm is 2500...sigh...but wht to do...compromise top speed for pick up lor

no la bro...dun la say like tht.
i also got a bit of fat ma...hehe.

but its not the drivers weight tht really affects the fc la...its the condition of the car,the driving style and the traffic conditions also mah.

Hi bros!

since the fuel price hike by 40%...i think i need some additional comments from taiko-taiko out there regarding the FC of our e30.

my e30 318(A) fitted with M40 engine...anybody out there using the same engine care to share some info with regards to the FC? I need the info as comparison & bechmark to find out if my FC is healthy/normal?

many tks!
