Bro Tombstone. You said the fitter/mechanic who did up your car have died. From the look of the restoration photos your mechanic is a very neat worker and a meticulous person. I need to do up my E30 Coupe too but I have not found any workshop yet who can handle the bodyworks and the rust problems. Being an Official Member of Malatbimmers can you recommend any particular workshop that has the experience to handle E30 restoration. Better still if the shop can strip some parts of the body to bare metal, treat the rust and weld new metal panel.I would also consider painting the car as well. Be happy if you can assist.
