hi all!!!

my 1st post after lurking in this forum for awhile..

I'm looking for E30 318i '91 4 door carpet grey color.. that big piece of carpet that stretches from the front to the back of the car. i'm getting my floorboards spot welded and wanna change my badly stained carpet at the same time.

This my 1st E30 project car so advice and tips are highly welcome. Tks all!!! Smile

Send it for cleaning. To get complete set grey color is hard to come by. Most of it either kena potong or covered with dirt. BMW Floorboard carpets are unique. It has sponge sort of a damper to absorb road noise. Advisable either cleaning it or dye to black.

Last i check with other forums cost cleaning will be 200 to 300. Just walk in any upholstery shop and ask for quotation.

Welcome WDJ318! The number is quite familiar ermm =) Yup Highwaystar is rite, to source out fer clean carpet is near to impossible. If you want, I can check the NEW carpet pricing, but definately, it will be costly. Good luck!

thx highwaystar & aRRrgghh!!! my ride jus a std black 318i 4 door wit ugly jap rims which came with the car.. Sad

not to run from topic, jus called a chop shop and was offered RM150 for 2nd hand carpet but blue color.

for new called AB(SS2) say they don't hv n can't order.

a bmwforumer suggested getting an upholstery shop to cut out a new piece. guess is not a good idea cos of the sound proofing.. but isn't sound proofing foam a separate layer from the carpet?

would the upholstery shop ppl be able to clean and dye it black as you suggested??? if they do any reccomendations around the pj or its surrounding area? Smile

nice black carpet to go with the rest of the interior... hehehehehe... NICE!!! Smile

bro, if u want it black, bikin carpet baru better. u can put additional sound pad and ur car will be more kedap than the original one. can do at proper cushion maker shop. Smile

kekekek yup it is true BUT its not ori lorr.. last time i wanna do my carpet. The carpet maker told me that normal carpet wont last.. berbulu cepat (itu rambut gugur lah). Tapi if want to find original material (like stock BMW). It is very expensive. So he advise me either dye it or clean it.

Anyway, he quoted me 450 normal carpet (air tumpah buleh tembus). If you want to customize it you can go with irman suggestion. Put lots of pad (try to follow original one) BUT before that slap DynaMat...FUIYYYYOOOOOO!!!!

brader jeembo, the previous owner change the reg number b4, previously was 2323 something like dat. when beli got it with the number edi. kereta dah i think 5 tangan liao..

brader highwaystar, the cleaning & then dyeing looks like a good option to keep it ori, did u dye yrs too???

i think my carpet hv to dye cos i asked b4 n been told the stains kinda tough to remove. any reccomendation around pj n surrounding areas to do the job (cleaning + dyeing)?

pardon my ignorance but DynaMat is a soundproofing material kan??

bro irman, good suggestion too.. but i think mungkin lari budget sikit if hv to do new carpet sekali dgn soundproofing.. cos my car byk lagi kena fix up & saving up for a spray job too.. Smile

Dynamat is a sound proofing and also to protect you floorboard from rusting inside out (not outside in). Dynamat has tar compound on which will adheres to your floorboard. So, if air aircond bocor karr... air masuk ikut steering column karr.. semua takung, therefor you know your carpet is wet, but floorboard is protected.

Me belum dye my carpet lagi. FYI i am some sort of stingy fellow heheheh... therefore i try to find solution to jimat DIY. use dylon and kiwi black. dapat jimat 100 kekekekekke
