anyone know if it is a straight forward swap to put a M54B30 (wire harness, drivetrain, auto transmission, everything else in engine bay) into a e36 320i ?

and how much will a m54b30 halfcut cost + labor cost to do above?

lastly which JB workshop can be trusted to do a proper job?

I think theres no modification needed in engine bay.Mounting all same.All can fit in nicely.Just pnp.Wire harness maybe some problem coz 36 and 46 are different model and also their engine management system.Halfcut last time heard around 7k above.Sorry dont know which w/shop in jb are capable.

Hi bro,

If i take the whole engine bay from a e46 330i/ci halfcut, it will be 100% PNP?

Shuld I use the gbox, drive shalf, auto tranmission, exhaust system from the e46 330 as well and r they also PNP?

Eh alamak sorry 4 the price dude.Its over then 7k as i know.The engine will fit in nicely to 36.the gearbox is ok but the propellar need to check if u wanna use previous diff.46ci diff mounting maybe a lil bit defferent with current.the exhaust flow also need some modification coz 46ci route at underbody are not same with 36.find a professional mech to swap in ur dreaming or later u will get sick to countermeasure others problem coming.

Anything is possible and it has been done b4. But it is not a pnp job. Specially the wiring. e36 runs on obd 1/obd 2 with or without ews (depending on the m50/m52 engine) and m54 run on obd2/3 with ews2. So you need to by pass the ews or know how to map the wires.
This is just one thing, then the mechanicals.
Why not find a s50/s52 and swap that into your e36?

spot on actually...

also the cost to do it and parts availability? way way way more affordable in the UK or US ... even engines are aplenty for you to choose from...

btw, M52B28 already cost around MYR7K here...

sorry bmw, but if you want more ummppph the reliable way... the e36 will be mad on a 2JZ (bolehland mechanic/workshop also very pro wt this set up)

if you still want a german under the hood, another no sakit kepala solution will be to shove a 3.0 stroker kit to ur existing 6 cylinder engine... wt some fat ass m3 cams .. can asap the m54b30.. hehehe
