I have experienced some weird symptom from my car during the rush after working hours down town KL. Thought of sharing it here & perhaps someone here can share some thoughts what could the problem be...

As I drove out from basement car park, I have experienced lost of power as I try accelerating by pushing the paddle deeper Shocked

The engine didn't stall, didn't die off, but the rpm maintain around 1100rpm with smooth sailing speed climbing the slope regardless of how hard I push the paddle.

After I made it to the main road along jalan ampang, I joined the car flow but still unable to accelerate. The rpm was around 900-1000 without engine stall or die off...slowly crawl its way while the long queue of cars behind me flashing their headlamp urging me to move faster...

I decided to give up, pulled the car one side, disengaged my gear, start to rev the car a bit, to my surprise, this time the rev react positively according to my paddle, everything seems normal though...

Again, engaged the gear & re-start my journey ...however, the car simply won't move no matter how hard I push the paddle trying to accelerate...the rpm stayed at 900 without any throttle response from the paddle...the feeling is as if I am stepping on a vacum paddle without any response from the engine Confused

After a long 3 minutes of drag along the main road, the car out of sudden back to normal, throttle response returned & the car accelerated till reached home.

This morning oso okay without any problem... Confused

Why eh? Question Question Question Question Question Question Question Question Question Question Question Question Question Question Question Question

Your e30 caught you looking at a newer bimmer in the car park as you walked to it. Didn't you! Laughing

OK, but seriously, I no idea also lol, I've never encountered this myself.

addooii... this must be it..heehhee

let me reconfirm, did your auto gear shift during that time?

i reckon something got to do with electrical.

please send to service centre and check your gearbox response ie step shift, cable bla bla, oil gear service and also electrical components ie ECU. maybe they can calibrate from there.

i also never face this problem before.

bro highway : no throttle no gear shift at all, seem like stepping on hollow paddle, gear stayed at 1st with idle rpm, crawl itz way at snail pace...(as though u release the brake & let the car slide on its idle speed-auto gear...)

bro eezuan : tks for the sharing, wil do the checking on my fuel pump!

if no gear shift must be gear valve body, but strange, if cannot shift gear, you able to rev freely. but your case dua dua pun takleh. and kejap ada kejap takde... aihhhh... pelik2. will check around

an update for record & sharing sake...

Last Saturday morning, planning to send my car to mech for checking as well as periodical lube service, as I drove out of my hse, the car gave the same problem intermittently from usj to pj...

the timing was right as i almost reach my mech worskshop, the car has come to total halt & was not able to gain throttle response. so slowly let the car slide for 500m frm main road to workshop...

aftre the mech gave a thorough check, he concluded that it was the fuel filter that gave the problem.

After changing it, the car was smooth ride til now...will continue to monitor to see if the same symptom wll occur again.
