Just curious here after doing some reading, does anyone cut their bump stops after installing lowering springs so that the absorbers still have the normal amount of strut travel?

cutting ori stuff? that is SOOOOO NOT YOUUUUUUUUUUU

Haha I know.

But if it's necessary for allowing the absorbers to work at their full capacity, then of course it should be considered. I don't feel them bottoming out too often as long as I don't go over bumps too quick, but I just think it's something to check out haha.

Bump stop is this one :

ohhh... dampers... i never cut because

1. Not cheap (i'm a cheapskate)
2. Worn out easy especially when its dried therefore
i let my absorber work out on its own way.

I read that certain designs of camber plates or top mounts can also allow for more travel, but I'm not too sure which, I think it was Ground Control.

Whatever it is, i suggest not to cut weii... you'll end up looking for Oil sump cover. Damper the shocks is to prolong your shocks life span, if you take cornering, the bump stop will at least contributed 20% of shocks stiffness.

if you cut your dampers/bump stop, you can just imagine when you take corner and suddenly you ran through a pot hole... your car will be more lowered at that split second time and you might hit road surface which damaged your oil sump, front lips and even your inner fenders. If you hit oil sump and broke... that will be troublesome and also danger other motorist as well. This will not be as dangerous if you running on racetrack.

There is so much R&D involved here, you have to calculate your shocks travel like bilstein, boge, koni etc. Each shocks have their own characteristic, also, you have to R&D with your lowered springs aswell, once calibrated... then you will be okay but these will taken so much time, so much money.

my shocks inserts do not have these bumpstoppers.will it effect anything?kindly advise.tq.

as far as i know is that the "bump stop" protects your absorber piston rod against valve damage often due to stones and grit....


bro evil, guess u'll have to buy the aftermarket performance parts if you wanna still have the normal strut travel...this shud prevent from damaging ur absorbers when using lowered springs...i think so la...hehehhe
