Hi bros, I'm having a noise coming from I assume somewhere in my driveline.

1) I can only hear it at low speeds, perhaps it's drowned out by road/engine noise at higher speeds.
2) It's a noise that kinda goes "klok klok klok" and goes slower as my car moves slower.
3) Once the car stops, the noise stops too.
4) This happens in forward gears only. When I shift to reverse and move at the same low speeds, no noise.
5) The noise is there regardless of whether the clutch is engaged or disengaged.

However, other than this noise, there are no issues with the gearbox, e.g. no funny whines, shifting is fine and etc.

I had all the gearbox oil seals replaced the other day (problem existed before this too) and while it was up, I noticed a few tiny cracks in my guibo. Could this be the cause? I thought guibos only caused clunking noises when shifting gears, which I do not have.

klok klok klok... early symptoms of drive shaft inner bearing either on the left or the right side. It will be worst if you drive slow on hill climb.

You can send it for recond or get another used set.

bro, are you referring to the center support bearing? I thought there is only one, not sure what you mean by left or right side. Smile

later i will see if its louder when climbing my car park ramps, but thing is, it only happens sometimes only, not all the time. and usually in the morning when first drive of the day.

if you already checked centre bearings, long shaft coupling then must be Drive Shaft = from axle to your wheel

Use hoist and turn your wheel slowly, if slightly knock.. then its drive shaft.

Oh I forgot to mention, the noise sounds like its coming from right under my center console (the shift lever + handbrake area), not the rear of the car. That's why I was thinking driveshaft bearing or guibo or something.

mmm... have you check log shaft coupling? you need to remove you exhaust to check. maybe to coupling has worn out or the long shaft join (dunno what is called).

Hmm I will check on that as soon as I can. I'll wait for your image to see which part it is. Smile

Btw, if realoem.com is down, try bmwfans.info, it's the same ETK diagrams.

Check part number 2

Check part number 1

Check number 7 & 8 (the whole join section)

not really, guess the coupling less than 200 (i cant recall the exact price) and
the joining parts that indicate 7 and 8 memang jarang rosak. So omit that problem.

The main thing you need to check now is

Coupling (Rubber), Centre Bearing and gearbox mounting.

gud luck!
