kebaikkan memang byk !
u shift quicker , in a smaller radius ..rather than the stock e30 long throw ..short shift shorter throw loh .
but the shifting will be a bit notchy...just abit. depending on the type of short shift kit ..(adaptor or actual short shifter)

I have Short Shifter In My Car...
Feels Damm Nice When Shifting...
Not Only That... If You Want To Play...
You dont have to worry about shifting taking along time..
The only bad thing is:
You would not want to leave the car because of the GOOD FEELING OF Shifting gears...

maybe fizan was referring actual 'real world' advantages & disadvantages of using a shortshifter/short shift adaptor ..
shiokness ? mmm i dont know .
something i found on a database , to further help Fizan ..
A short shifter is intended to shorten the distance the gear lever or stick has to move from one gear to the next. It does NOT affect gear ratios. If you have ever studied levers .then you know that a lever has a pivot point called a "fulcrum." A short shifter shortens the length of the lever between the fulcrum and the bottom part of the shifter which is conneced to the shift linkage, which moves the gears in the tranny and alters the ratios as you shift. A short shifter gives you a tighter feel and, when combined with upgraded polyurethane bushings, a tighter more precise shift. The trade-off is the shifter requires more effort to shift, even though it has less travel.
Avoid the cheap-o generic shifters, they can bend or break eslily since they tend to require alot of effort and are made of crappy materials. Also avoid the adjustable type. This is a good idea, but it is a total pain in the a$$ to adjust the ball. A nice compromise is to simply replace the bushings while using the stock lever. Bushings are cheap and fairly easy to install. This will not alter the effort required to shift but will tighten up the feel of the shifts and help you to make more accurate shifts without missing a shift as often.
harap ini dapat membantu ..
sekian

I'm using the ssk similar to the pic from calvin's eurocarmotorsport he said it was from the z3m. Got it from him at RM220 many years ago. Very notchy and short throws. you've got to be quite accurate in you leg work and your shift work to get it to work right. otherwise its quite a hassle. The age of most e30 gearboxes don't help the situation. My advise, go for the z4 as the throw is longer and not so notchy but its easier to engage the gears and that makes a big deal in a kl jam. Better still try a car which has a ssk and see if its really what you want.

remember to change the gearbox oil to reputable brands such as Redline. It rocks!
